Guitar Hero 5 details unveiled
Lydia Sung - Friday, May 15th, 2009 | 10:58AM (PT)

First look at new images and songs

Activision has revealed the first details for their fall title Guitar Hero 5, including early tracks and images.

The game boasts the "best variety and biggest rock stars of today" combined with classic tunes for a true sense of variety -- following the footsteps of Rock Band, perhaps. From the sound of things, Guitar Hero 5 will be quite similar to all its predecessors, allowing players to duke it out or co-op in a myriad of ways.

New modes include Party Play and RockFest, designed for easy "pick up and play" gameplay. Party Play lets players "jump in or drop out of gameplay seamlessly," presumably for multiplayer, and RockFest offers a head-to-head competitive expereince.

One nice tidbit is that DLC from Guitar Hero World Tour will be compatible with Guitar Hero 5. Activision also stated they've redesigned the aesthetics and included various new innovations, including Band Moments, where players are rewarded for achieving special note streams together.

New songs:

The Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil
Bob Dylan – All Along The Watchtower
The White Stripes – Blue Orchid
Santana – No One To Depend On (LIVE)
Vampire Weekend – A-Punk
Tom Petty – Runnin Down a Dream
Johnny Cash – Ring of Fire
Kings of Leon – Sex on Fire

1. White Stripes - the only band that uses fewer notes in their songs...
... than guitar hero has buttons on their little plastic guitar. :P

2. Dunno. I find Jack White's rugged "in your face" licks refreshing.
Gotta love a two-piece garage-style outfit in this day and age of excess.

9. That looks like the set list for Guitar Hero I
not part 5. :) The set list for part I was pretty good, the only set list I didn't care for was part II. And the Aerosmith one was rather...bland(but I was expecting that).
