Does anyone else's cat sniff?

Mine sniffs, I mean, like in a Victorian novel, a woman might sniff with disdain. And when my cat sniffs, that means, watch out, she's about to get aggressive.

1. Yes, I have noticed one of my cats sniffing when he was angry
I guess they in the same way a person might breath fast when they get angry, so do cats.

3. No, but mine huffs. Opens his mouth and snorts in the smell of bleach. Nutso cat. I have to be
very careful if I use the stuff to keep him away until I am sure he won't kill off any brain cells.

4. Yep. Daddy Cat does that to the others, and O'Malley does it to me.
If I don't pet her just right, that is. *sniff*

5. Mine too!
She's a relatively young Maine Coon Cat, and she sniffs everything. She pre-emptively searches for smells. She's like a dog. I just figure that this is a mechanism for her to re-affirm her tenuous grasp on reality. And I don't mean that in a bad way.
