Anyone else posting with a kitty on their lap?
Every time I sit down at my computer, my kitty has to sit on my lap.

then he curled up for a nap in his bed next to my chair, but now he's looking up at me going "Myeh. Myeh. Myeh." and pawing at my left hand. He wants me to either pet him or feed him, or both. "Myeh."

3. Bed next to your chair.
Good idea. We had one but it fell apart in the wash. I should get another one. I've gotten up from my chair 3 times since the OP and she's come back every time. She's on my lap now.

5. Is she very heavy?
Edited on Fri May-22-09 03:24 PM by LNM
I'm lucky this one is only about 6 pounds. My legs are falling asleep.

Edit: My typing sucks.

7. Little Skeezix is between 5.5-6 lbs. World's Smallest Maine Coon.
We joke that she's the 'Bonzai' variety of Maine Coon.

She just got up from her round, furry kittynest. She's 15 and blind but gets around the apt. very well.

9. Are Maine Coons typically large?
I don't know a whole lot about them. I'm sorry your kitty is blind and 15 is getting up there. The one on my lap is 18 and has been diabetic for 3 years. Her eyesight is going as well. Another reason I have a hard time kicking her off my lap. I don't think she'll be around that much longer.

13. Little Skeezix got up to pee, have a drink of water, meow at me and is now back in her
kitty nest bathing. Life is good.

A year ago we nearly had to have her put to sleep as she had very recently gone blind, and was found wandering near a high-speed road as my mother had died and was not able, obviously to answer the door when the dog catcher brought her home. The notice on the door made my mother's neighbors realize something was wrong and they called the cops.

We collected Skeezix from the pound and brought her home, but she was obviously blind - as a result of a kidney problem - and none of us were in a position to take her, then, two days after my mother died my apt. complex changed their pet rules. We've had a GREAT year together. She's very happy and seems to be very healthy.

23. Thanks. Mom was ready to go, but I regret she didn't get the chance to vote
for either Clinton or Obama. She was a diehard Dem and I know she would have loved the chance.

24. Sport Utility Cats
Brianna is part Maine Coon, and she's a looooong cat. Funny hing is that she has this squeaky, chirpy voice.

18. Cool! I want one of those.
S/he looks like my first kitty, although he wasn't that big. I bet they clog up the vacuum cleaner.

20. You must use a Zamboni for a vacuum cleaner, then.

6. That's so typical of cat owners.
I can roll over in bed without disturbing that cat at my feet. You can't kick her off, can you?

12. Admit it--you have slept on the edge of the bed while the cat sprawls across the middle.
I do not know a single cat person who has never experienced the phenomenon.

Cats make life worth living but they really ARE obnoxious little beasts sometimes.

19. Only a few times
and only because my cats typically sleep at the foot of the bed or between my knees. I can turn myself into a pretzel to roll over when they're between my knees. Fortunately that was with my cat when I was a teen.

arrive home and sit at the computer. Tonight he head butted me with his mouth. I think that was a kiss.

28. I wouldn't mind
if she would just sit but she has to move around and go up in front of the screen. We have just found a compromise. She is now on top of the Tower. I can just imagine how much fur is going to get sucked into that. But at least we are both at peace.

Hi,
Funny you should mention it, she is on my lap. I like her to be in her bed on the computer desk, but ever since I got back from a little trip it is lap only it seems.

Peace

30. Hurricane Ike likes to jump on my lap when I am trying to work.
How he knows when I am typing for work I don't know.

He doesn't do this when I am on DU.
