Drinking milk right out of the carton
This came up as a topic of conversation when I went out to lunch with a few people. Is this a guy thing, drinking right out of the carton. The guys there - myself included - agreed on one point: if the milk carton is nearly empty, and you are going to drink all that is left, it's ok to just take it out of the fridge, drink it right out of the carton and then toss the carton into the trash. The guys see nothing wrong with that. Nobody thought it was OK to put the carton back into the fridge after having drunk out of it.

On the other hand, the women present, unanimously, said that it must be poured into a cup or glass - even though you are throwing the carton away at the same time. That it is never OK to drink right out of the carton, even if your very next act is to drop the carton into the trash. (Obviously we are excluding those small, single-serving cartons of milk - we're talking about the quarts, half-gallons, gallons, etc.)

What's your opinion?

3. I think if you're going to finish it off it doesn't matter whether you drink it from the carton
or a glass, provided that it's not in the dining area where others will witness it. We drank straight from those single-serve cartons as kids, although these days I see people using a straw with those.

4. I live alone so I happily drink from the carton...
and put it back in the fridge. Why dirty a perfectly clean glass and waste soap and hot water cleaning it?

(When I didn't live alone I had to make sure no one saw me.)

19. I get it a Whole Foods -
It's from Pennsylvania (I'm in Northern Virginia). It's a pain, cleaning the bottles, shlepping them back, but it's worth it. The whole milk is more like cream, and so good.

Can't you find any in stores around you? What do they do with the milk they produce?

Probably ship it to Whole Foods in Northern Virginia <snort>..........................t

23. I think they ship it in from other places for processing and then ship it to still other places...
we are talking about Yonkers, NY here. Not really a dairy capital of the US, just lots of industrial processing and manufacturing. I did learn that the largest factory for the production of subway and light-rail cars in the US is down the block from me. It's a Kawasaki plant.

I'm sure if I went into the city, I could find milk in glass bottles. I want it delivered though. What happened to the noble American institution known as the milkman?

27. Heck yeah...
we've still got ice cream trucks. The state of NY recently had to pass an ordinance saying they couldn't play music while stationary b/c the Mr. Softee trucks would park on a busy corner and play the same jingle over and over and over for like 16 hours a day.

I dunno, for me it's the sound of happiness. Apparently, some people are grinches who hate cool refreshing summer treats.

put it back...he NEVER did it again  that is just fucking foul

If you live by yourself, there is no problem with it...and I think it's okay to drink out of the carton if you were finishing it.
