One, she'd be cheap. One person on a Moog vs a symphony - easy call.

Two, she's an amazing composer. Just check out the non Beethoven tracks on the "Clockwork Orange" soundtrack.

Hell, check out her interpretations of Bach on "Switched on Bach" and her interpretations of Beethoven.

Three, she's not scoring enough movies, period.

Is she still alive?

2. She is still alive. And SHE may be expensive, but you save on orchestra costs
I'll bet a string section alone costs as much as she does

3. She's very good, but what was the last thing she's done. "TRON" is the last soundtrack I can think
of that she's done. Was that 1982ish?

7. Yes she did, and TRON
And after that she went to work on a bunch of Bach and Vivaldi works set to modern Moogs.

She's MOOGTASTIC!

I love a good Moog!

8. Well, she did a great job with THE SHINING, but most of that score was classical
music recorded by someone else.

I believe she recorded "Dies Irae" for the title sequence, and a second song for the scene in which Jack is driving the family up to the Overlook, and after that it is mostly classical music.

That is one soundtrack that I would love to see remastered and put on CD.

To my knowledge, it has not been put on CD. My only copies are cassettes.

9. I thought TRON was one of her best, to be honest. There is some
beautiful stuff on that soundtrack.

4. She used to be Walter Carlos...
...not that there's anything wrong with that.

The only reason I brought that up was because I loved Switched on Bach an the Clockwork Orange soundtrack as a kid... And, I remember seeing her music credited to "Wendy/Walter Carlos" in a record store or somewhere... I was confused at first, thinking Walter and Wendy were brother and sister or something... until I figured it out.

12. Give a listen to "Beauty in the Beast"
an album she did in the late 1980s of all original music. She does some amazing things, such as synthesizing an entire Balinese gamelan AND a western style orchestra so that they can and do all play in tune together, something utterly impossible in the acoustic world. Carlos is one brilliant woman.

14. That and Gary Numan?
He and Bowie despised Gary Numan - but I think he was a friggen genius, on the same level as Bowie and Eno.
