What is the best movie you have seen in the past month?
For me it was DARWIN AWARDS. I caught it on Movie Channel on demand. It was a dark comedy based on the website of the same name. Not the most sophisticated plot, but it had me laughing out loud so much. In fact I can't remember that last time I laughed that much.

11. A Japanese film called "Casshern". An anti-war message dresed up as a superhero flick...
Edited on Sun Jun-14-09 02:54 PM by Richard Steele
...and just the most visually STUNNING thing I've seen in a long time.

I've also finally gotten around to viewing "Just Kill Me",
and I'm halfway through it at the moment. It's pretty darned good.

3rd place this month is a Russian film released as "Day Watch" over here...
As a B-Movie fan, it's one of the "B"-est Ive seen in awhile.

First rate cinetography, production values, and special effects...
but the PLOT looks like they took five different movie scripts,
threw them off a building, and then picked up pages at random until
they had a stack thick enough to make one film with.

If you like BAD movies as much as I do, Day Watch" is really something special.

16. Let The Right One In
Swedish vampire flick

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1139797/

There's some controversy over the subtitles on the US release. They lose some of the dark humor.

This was hilarious. And unlike a certain Borat film - which shall remain unnamed - they don't give away all the funny bits in the trailer.

24. The Seventh Stream
on Hallmark ( I usually avoid that channel because of all the commercials).

The movie might not appeal to most people, but I like selkies and other mythological creatures.

Saffron Burrows stars in it. She's bisexual and a lifelong socialist. Awesome woman! Gorgeous too.
