Okay, I'm totally geeking out and very few people will actually know what the hell I'm talking about
but I've just started making a set of Mandalorian combat armor.

The head of the local Mando 'clan' just accepted me into their group, now all I need to do is finish the armor and send pics to the main Mando group for approval. (I say 'all' I have to do, but since I've barely started it's quite a bit to do.)

It's a silly, geeky thing. But it's totally awesome.

In that geeky sort of way that I like. :)

11. Can you translate that to Diablo II armor?
Or Never Winter Nights?

Or Command and Conquer, the Generals Zero Hour?

Sorry, different universes...

Although there is a local Amptgard (sp?) group in the area if I decide to finish my leather/chainmail armor. :)

then I could probably rig up some kind of illuminated sign, kinda like a temporary florescent one. :)

29. I'm going the fiberglass and resin route.
It may take a little longer and involve a bit of work, but I really don't have a good place to do any heat molding of plastic or anything like that. Nor do I have the equipment for actual metal. :P

Although that would be incredibly awesome.

I have some big ideas for later on, i.e. adding electronics and whatnot. (especially some kind of built-in fan or AC in the right gauntlet or a backpack or something.) But that'll come later. Right now I just want to get the base armor built.

36. Awesome
But potentially heavy. Yours is probably the wiser choice. Particularly since neither seems to do much good against a light saber, and people with blasters generally cant hit the broad side of a barn anyway.

38. Funny that you should mention the lightsaber bit...
Since I first got into making props and whatnot back in '02 or '03 when I discovered that you could make a prop lightsaber out of parts from Home Depot, I decided to incorporate that into my costume. So I'm going for a 'jedi hunter' specialist. A few lightsaber trophies hanging on my belt. A triple barreled blaster on my left wrist, since the best someone with a lightsaber could block would be two in a straight line. And, most importantly... veins of cortosis ore on the armor to short out lightsabers.

Yes, I'm a nerd. :)

35. Not much point to doing that until the real world develops personal starship technology.
With modern technology, you could probably rig a low-end version of the accompanying equipment, assuming Boba Fett's gear was fairly close to whatever the Mandalorians had -- I stopped keeping up with the Star Wars EU years ago. Wrist-mounted rocket launcher (assuming you could scrounge a Gyrojet system, fix the flaws in the original Gyrojet design, convert it appropriately, AND keep the government off your back), short-barreled shotgun substituting for a sawn-off blaster, jetpack (could do something with fans or compressed air), that gadget Fett had in ROTJ that wrapped Luke up in a cable, etc...

But without a personal starship, loaded to the gills with weaponry, you'd be missing half the fun of the Authentic Mandalorian Experience. ;) :P /whimsy
