June 15, 1775: George Washington threw a silver dollar across the state of Delaware.
He was in Maryland and somebody wagered him if he could do it or not. He did it.

10. I don't think so.
New Jersey was a Spanish colony at the time. Their booths only accepted doubloons and pieces of eight.

15. Sorry, but the tollbooth jokes are old and tired
Washington's Crossing, which they named a town after the spot where it happened, is in Pennsylvania just south of New Hope, PA in Bucks County. Nowhere does Bucks County border the state of Delaware - that's all New Jersey there. Ironically the RIVER is named Delaware, there were also native Americans from the Delaware tribe and some guy name Lord De La Warr (not sure of the spelling). In fact the whole Philadelphia region including Philadelphia is commonly referred to as the Delaware Valley because the main river that cuts thru this whole region is the Delaware River.

So seriously, can you find a new joke?

4. Yeah, but since the wager was only a dollar it wasn't a very smart bet on his part.
They didn't have metal detectors back then.

6. This is a point of contention among historians.
Back then a silver dollar was worth 10 silver dollars and they were made of wood.

16. It'd be so cool if he decided to "haunt" The Lounge.

He was the coolest one of them all with his cool glasses and his cool inventions. We'd have it made if he had access to today's technology to invent more great things.

OF COURSE, he'd fit right in here in The Lounge; he flew a kit with a key on it in a bad storm. Only a True Lounge Lizard™©® would do something wild, fun, and crazy like that.

The first silver dollar was minted in 1794.

*on edit--I just reread the OP. LOL!!

Across the STATE of Delaware? No wonder we invented Baseball. Washington had already
invented the outfield throw seventy years in advance of the rest of the game!
