1. There's nothing wrong with the PC
that the right OS can't cure.

3. But dont get complacent! Mac viruses are coming out ...
and Linux ones exist too, so anti-virus for these platforms are needed too. They aren't as dangerous simply because of the user system... with Windows pretty much everyones a "super user" so there's "easy access" by virus writers to critical systems. With Linux and Mac, you need a super user password to do anything (aka "root password") so any viruses on these systems are more annoyances than anything - but there's viruses out there on Mac that do some damage.

Mark.

7. I don't own a Mac so I can't make any solid recommendations but...
for Linux I use ClamAV, and there is a Mac version called ClamXav - which is free - available at www.clamxav.com - what reading I have done in this short time about Macs and viruses seem to point to clamxav being the way to go - and stay away from the Nortons and the Mcafees for right now. ClamXav's main use would be to make sure files you send out to people on Windows machines are PC-virus free.

Apple Acknowledges OS X Malware
http://www.prweb.com/releases/apple-Acknowledges/malware-macscan-protects/prweb2521784.htm

Apple has finally acknowledged that spyware and viruses are a threat for Mac OS X (http://www.apple.com/macosx/what-is-macosx/security.html), as well as the latest operating system in the works, Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard will be adding new technology to help prevent against attacks such as sandboxing and anti-phishing features in Safari. This, however, is not a 100% solution to protect against malware.

21. All other topics aside
"Snow Leopard" may be the coolest thing anything has EVER been named!

For the record, I use a PC for work don't really use a computer for anything recreational, so I have no real attachement to any of the camps.

BUt Snow Leopard is teh awesome.

13. The more popular Mac becomes
the more likely hackers will start to target it with viruses. Considering how complacent Mac owners tend to be about this issue, I would imagine they are ripe for the picking

17. It's funny how you spent years ripping on Macs for being overpriced
then got one and did an immediate 180. Maybe you'll rethink some other things, like Star Trek after you see it. Who knows? It's a big world!
