WindowsUpdate.Com Says I Need SIXTEEN Updates... Sixteen?
SIXTEEN?? What the fuck are they doing over there?

You'd think they could have gotten it right the first time, eh?

1. When's the last time you updated?
Are they critical updates, or merely enhancements and driver updates?

6. Eleven Security Updates, Three "Critical" Updates
... and to answer your question. I seldom update. I guess I ought to more often, huh?

3. First update:
Get a Mac. :)

Sorry, knee-jerk reaction. I do feel for you -- my wife encounters this almost daily at work. Usually you just have to do it.

8. Macs get updated too
Sorry, but I just hate the Mac superiority crap. It's different, not better, they make mistakes too.

If more than 3% of the world used them there would be a lot more exploiting of their mistakes too.

10. i'm a little sick (understatement) of the 'buy a mac crowd' too.
honestly, if you have nothing to contribute to a post requesting assistance with a computer other than "get a Mac", then please post nothing at all. Unfortunately, most folks don't have the money to pay for a Mac, let alone replace their entire software catalog for Mac compatability. Yes, Macs are nice machines, but as notmypresident pointed out, as I have on several occasions, if Macs were the predominant platform for networking, then you too would be getting hacked non-stop. Claiming that Mac is a better platform because it is less susceptible to hacks is like saying that the Ferarri 360 Modena is a safe buy because it's one of the least stolen cars in the country. There simply aren't enough to substantiate that claim.

Also, operating systems and PCs are like cars. They need maintenance as well. Try neglecting your vehicle like you do your computer, and see how well it runs!!

color me one pissed off msca!!

4. Remember
Microsoft is a MARKETING company disguised as a software company - kind of like the current White House.

"Security" is mostly perception anyway...

9. I run Windows XP
and get an "update" alert almost every day. I just do it when they tell me one is ready. My husbands desktop computer had never downloaded an update (since January) and I looked to see how many he had never bothered with and it was 29! It took me hours to download all of them. He didn't know he was suppose to do that. :eyes:

12. I just installed NT 4 Server on a machine and
it wanted 33 critical updates, and that was AFTER I applied SP6a and installed IE6!

So life goes on, holes are found, and fingers are stuck in the dikes to plug 'em all. Good ol' Micro$oft.....
