1. I voted codiene, just don't take too much of either.
I've known people who've "tripped" on DXM.

One of them enjoyed it so much that he was doing it two and three times a week. Ended up in a psychotic episode. It was not fun to have to take him to the hospital after we tried to keep up with him for 48 hours and couldn't stay awake any longer.

Codeine is the more effective cough suppressant IMHO.

2. I decided to take the codeine even though I'm naturally resistant to its sedative effect.
In the past I've had better luck with Nyquil knocking me out. But I guess that isn't really the purpose of either drug.

8. Not really, no...
... but I understand the desire to sleep through sickness. If you're going to be miserable while the crud runs its course, better to be miserable asleep than awake....

Hope you feel better soon.

3. Why?
Codeine never did anything for me, DXM gave sweaty, uncontrollable nervous shakes...give me sobriety any day!

5. Have you asked your doctor?
This reads like you are asking for medical advice which is against forum rules.

6. I'm not asking for advice.

Both are nearly identical in their effectiveness. The op is merely a joke

7. Nyquil never works for me - it keeps me awake all night
so, I say go with codeine.

9. The DXM is probably the worse drug, but you should see a doc
if you have chronic sinusitis...

12. The liquid "Tussionex" is a good medicine
It's basically hydrocodone (Vicodin) in liquid form, plus another drug I can't remember the name of. For some reason I never liked Vicodin because I was afraid to take it and wouldn't take enough of it. But Tussionex produces a mild, dreamy sort of euphoric state that lets you sleep like a baby and get well quickly. It's by prescription only of course.
