South Korean woman passes driver's exam on 950th try
SEOUL, South Korea - A woman in South Korea who tried to pass the written exam for a driver's license with near-daily attempts since April 2005 has finally succeeded on her 950th time.

The aspiring driver spent more than 5 million won ($4,200) in application fees, but until now had failed to score the minimum 60 out of a possible 100 points needed to get behind the wheel for a driving test.

Cha Sa-soon, 68, finally passed the written exam with a score of 60 on Wednesday, said Choi Young-chul, a police official at the drivers' license agency in Jeonju, 130 miles (210 kilometers) south of Seoul.

Police said Cha took the test hundreds of times, but had no specific total. Local media said she took the test 950 times.

2. I wonder what the questions on it were like?
In Massachusetts all you really need to know is not to drive while high or drunk and you can pass. Out of the 14 questions I needed to answer correctly except for a couple of questions like when is it ok to tailgate or speed they all were about drinking while driving, smoking marijuana while driving, etc.

8. That's what I wonder, too. Here, there are more than 800 questions one might have to answer.
The written exam is a lot more difficult in many countries.

6. There were several episodes of him failing the test.
"OK, now what do you do next, Spongebob?"
"Floor it?"

7. I feel sorry for her. The theory exam is very, very difficult in some countries.
By comparison, I passed the written exam on my first try when I was 16; in Switzerland, you can't even apply to take the written exam until you're 18, and there are more than 800 questions you can be asked to answer on that test. Fortunately, although I was long past the one year window for automatically getting a Swiss driving license without taking both the written and driving exams, I only had to take the driving part. If I'd had to take the theory (written) exam in Italian (as is the rule in our state), I would NEVER have been allowed to take the driving part. :(
