Flashback: Remember Bush's Bizarre Letterman Heart Surgery Joke?
Edited on Sat Mar-20-04 03:11 PM by Sliverofhope
David Letterman: Let me remind you of one thing, Governor: the road to Washington runs through me.
Bush: It's about time you had the heart to invite me.

"I'm a uniter, not a divider. That means when it comes time to sew up your chest cavity, we uses stitches as opposed to opening it up."

March 1, 2000; taped shortly after Letterman's open heart surgery.

Thanks to the Bush Dyslexicon for exact quote.

1. huh?
the guy is absolutely nuts. And totally heartless... in fact maybe that's why he felt so awkward about Dave's surgery... it proved that Dave actually has a heart!

2. Of all of his gaffes
the letterman heart surgery joke remains his most bizarre. Dave showed a lot of class where he could have gotten away with clobbering *.
