Facebook etiquette
If there is someone from your past you don't wish to associate with anymore, with whom you haven't communicated with in a long time, but who themselves don't understand that you don't wish to associate with them anymore... then what do you do?

I've blocked a few people who I frankly think are negative people from my past. One of the people had a current Facebook friend ask me whether I had blocked a person from my list. This is also someone with whom I haven't spoken to in a while and don't have a particular relationship with. Really - is it anyone's business why I have decided not to keep in contact with this person? I decided to block that person as well.

What would you do in this situation?

2. I just blocked my first-ever person.
I have hidden several others.

My take is, if it's not somebody you want to talk to, then you shouldn't talk to them. You could do the "ask uncomfortable question in return route," such as "well, that's my own business, why do you ask?" or some such. Or just block them, too. If it's not somebody you care about being in touch with/friends with, then...

3. I thought it was extremely rude for that person to write me that note.
And I did block that person. I also have very strong boundaries, and I do keep an eye on privacy, especially now.

8. That's cool.
I've learned some really difficult lessons recently about enforcing my own boundaries.

4. I think you did fine - people don't necessarily deserve an answer.
Your silence ought to let them know what you think about them.

7. Accept their friendship, hide their status AND set your privacy so that

they can't see your status updates, pictures, links, or Wall.

That way you don't have to turn down the request, but you also don't have to interact with or see them on your Facebook. And they can't see what you are doing either.
