7. for me, it'll be the Grammys

the choice is made for me by the fact that the Pro Bowl is on ESPN.

If it had been on a network (that I actually get, meaning any one but FOX) - I would have had to choose between them.

This makes it easy.

Haven't really watched sports since around the early 1970's. Got
a real ugly look at immediate nationalism -- my first night in
the Army, the first floor got into a serious rumble with the
second floor about which was the "badder" floor. Extremely stupid --
all these people has JUST been thrown together hours before and
would be going to multiple destinations the next day. Realized that
sports are just another insidious form of nationalism - "my city"
can beat "your city". Way too much money and time and influence
and personal identification with something so removed from our
REAL lives, usually just diversionary and distracting from truly
important... things. Meh.
.
And I absolutely HATE shoving "art" (including music) into the
competitive sphere -- Battle of the Bands, Grammies, American Idol.
.
Music is to be created and experienced -- not as competition but
simply as all that music IS. No problem with people making a buttload
of money from it... just hate the "my violin can beat your violin's
ass" mentality.
