My wife had her surgery today to remove her ovaries. She had developed tumors on them. The doctors had assured us that they were benign but cautioned us that they wouldn't be sure until they had a chance to look at them and have them biopsied. The procedure took longer than had been anticipated, a total of 3 hours. I spoke to the doctor after she was in recovery and he gave me the results. She is now home resting and getting better before having her breasts removed later this summer. It will come as no surprise that we cried at the good news and have hope that we have a good outcome later this summer. I want to thank all DUers who sent their best wishes and good vibes our way and ask for your continued support.
When I first saw her this afternoon in recovery it was all I could do to keep from bursting out in tears, I was never so glad to see her. She hadn't been told that they were benign because she was still under anesthesia. When I told her what the doctor had said we held each other tight and cried. I may cry now.
I hope your wife has a quick recovery from her surgery today. I can understand why she would want to be free from worrying about the possibilty of getting breast cancer since women in her family had it. The time it will take to recover will be inconsequential compared to the relief gained. Sending vibes for her good health, and yours, so you two can enjoy your retirement!
