How many working computers do you own?
This includes anything you have sitting idle in the basement or wherever no matter how old it is.

If I don't include my wife's work laptop or the kid's college laptops that only make it home during the summer, I have six. One will make it to my computer free sister soon though.

1. I have two
Both desk tops, just incase one gets messed up with a virus. Have had two major viruses and was glad to have the old one, except it doesn't come close in memory to the current one I am using now. I was going to buy a brand new one, but will now have to save for it.

2. 3 - one laptop and two desktops.
The desktop is a Core 2 duo used strictly for work, the i7 desktop is strictly for entertainment (games, streaming video, etc) and the laptop is used for everything else.

3. 3 laptops,
if you count the one I'm obligated to use for work. It's not really mine, but it still looks funny when I have my good one (new one) streaming netflix to my tv, the work laptop open to my office's server, and I'm also posting on DU from my older one

4. Does it include phones? Cars? Routers?
Or does it have to be a "personal computer" running a general-purpose operating system?

6. With a computer geek for a husband? Please.
At last count it was three Macs (and an iPod Touch makes four and an old G3 that needs a new hard drive makes five), three PCs, and a fourth PC in the basement acting as a server. So...what's that...nine? Yeah, that sounds about right.

WAIT! There's an ancient laptop in the garage that kind of works too. So...10. Nice round number.

12. The desktop I'm using,
laptops for my husband, son and daughter, my husband's old laptop that needs a repair, and my son's old desktop from 8th grade (he's 20 now). We also had a netbook but we gave it to my stepson who's computer bit the dust and he really needed it for work.

I'm a little disgusted right now - I didn't realize we had so many.

16. Seven.
Plus 2 or 3 that don't work.
I don't throw them out, or give them away anymore.
Giving away old technology is more trouble than it's worth...

18. Complicated question
I have six computers in my home. My primary desktop, my media laptop, a netbook, and two servers. In my office, I have three more.

I have enough parts to build three or four additional PC's if I wanted (I don't).

One of my home servers is a barebones VMWare Server installation that hosts an additional six virtual servers. Each of these is a standalone server in its own right, serving various functions on my network and development environment. On my primary work PC, I also have VMWare Workstation installed with an additional 12 fully operable virtual computers, though they are only turned on as the need arises.

So, depending on your definition of "working computer", I currently own somewhere between 9 and 31 computers.

:)

22. One
Of course that depends on how you define "working".

I have a dual processor G4 Mac that I boot up and it works, it does what I ask with a bare minimum of fuss to keep it runnng.

On the other hand, I have two Windows machines that turn on, but it's always " I can't find my drivers", I need a shitload of updates" "I have a virus even though you updated the virus software two days ago".....oh no,BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!!! I really don't call that "working"

lol :D

23. 6, but they all aren't ours.
My dh inherited my daughter's laptop that lost its ability to be closed when a hinge broke. It works nicely sitting on his desk. I use the desktop 'puter. Daughter and granddaughter both have their own laptops. We have 2- 10 yr old desktops sitting around the basement...slow things that they are. One was ours, the other my son left here when he got married.

My husband and I each have a desktop (we are both software engineers) and I have a netbook for some volunteer web work I do.

27. It would depend on what gets included in the category of ...
... computer, and some of the very old machines in the basement might not actually work.
Probably about a dozen, unless you include handhelds, in which case it would be considerably more.

29. My wife and I agreed a dozen was quite enough.
Don't tell, but I have a few more than that again.

An Amiga, some Ataris, an original IBM PC with hard drive(!) that cost the original owner a fortune but I found in the trash, some Apples, some macs, some Sinclairs, and my second home-brew of 1979 built of parts scavenged from my first...

38. 3.
There's the old one, which was my second computer, from the late 90s, which also has the hard drive from my first computer from 1995; then we have the "new" one from about 2003; and now we have a "brand new" laptop from earlier this year.
