Today: H and L. We've known H since she was 14. She and I grew up in the same area, and this afternoon (central time), she's marrying her partner, L, in a red state -- not a state-sanctioned contract because Oklahoma still hasn't seen the light--but a statement of going forward together despite bigotry.

And tomorrow, DU's own beautiful, powerful and kind bertha venation (The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger's godmother) and her longtime partner will exchange vows.

Please keep a good thought for these four beautiful, powerful women, as they make official their love and commitment to one another among friends, family and the world. :loveya:

I'm in an 18-year partnership, and we have decided that marriage isn't for us (for now). But hey - as heteros, at least we have the option in all 50 states if we change our mind.

Happy as pie for anyone who does want to formalize their relationship, and here's looking forward to the day that everyone in a partnership who wants to get married CAN get married.

4. H grew up in Cherokee County.

L is not from there, but is from a really red state, as well. I'm so happy for them that my heart could burst. They're so smart, capable and just like everyone else -- except in terms of courage. In terms of course, they're about 10 notches higher. :loveya:
