Computercide, computercide most foul..
Mini-Alley wants to add an expansion pack to her Sims game to the family gaming rig. I had served notice that the kids have already plugged the smallish hard drive with their games (mine too) and ipod accounts.

So I purchased a gig more of ram and a 500gig IDE hard drive and took everything to my "computer guy". I used to do hardware back in the day, and I handle simple upgrades like video cards and extra ram. I could not remember how I used to mirror hard drives so I let my guy handle it.

After running around, and of course the expense of getting the parts, then delivering them to the tech, he calls me this morning and tells me that after installing the new memory, purchased from a vendor he recommended, the machine won't boot up. He has swapped out memory, changed slots, and by the time he called me a couple of hours ago he said he only had one or two "tricks left up his sleeve". Since then silence.

That was a dual core 3gig cpu, with a fairly new Radeon 512mb video card a couple of gigs of ram, which is no gaming beast, but it ran the kids and my games. Sigh.
