Someone Pushed a Dead Racoon
Edited on Mon Aug-02-10 02:44 PM by Liberalynn
off the road and into my yard. Now what am I supposed to do with it? The town won't pick it up unless it is a dead deer. I am not at all sure I could lift it with a shovel cause the damn thing looks heavy. Even if I managed to roll it into the field it is still going to stink and draw unwanted other varmints. But I can't just dig a huge hole in my front yard to bury it on the spot either.

I don't know what the person who hit it could have done different but it just ticks me off now they have made it my problem and I don't know what to do about it. :grr:

8. Unfortunatly Not
I called them for a dead red fox in the road once and they said they only have an arrangement with a private contractor to pick up the deer and nothing else.

13. I don't know what your yard is like, rural or urban, well groomed
or needing mowed now. I would consider leaving it there and see if the carrion eaters take care of it if I could. I'm with you, I would not want to have to remove it. Ick ick ick. I know that this is way smaller, but I throw mice trapped in the house outside and the raccoons (if it is night) or the crows (if it is day) take care of it in no time. If you just can't take it, that rope on a paw and pull somewhere else sounded doable. Ick ick ick. Better do that now if you are going to, because you do not want to deal with it later.

22. The lawn had just been mowed.
You were right too. I had planned to take care of the racoon disposal this morning and it was all ready gone.

The scavenger wildlife in our area must have taken it. We do have coyotes around so maybe they took care of it. I am grateful to whatever it was.

28. So so glad for you. I am with you, I would not want to deal with it.
Also glad that you just left it there until today so that you didn't do all that work for nothing. I love the circle of life.

a week or two. I know, not much comfort.

with some other poor unfortunate creature, and the local scavengers don't take it away next time, this will be my route.
