61. Don't feel bad.
I have been a fan since '83, own everything they have recorded, have seen them about a dozen times and I JUST now discovered this video on YouTube. Of course I was pretty down and out in the Reagan '80's and had no cable or sattelite TV. Come to think of it we only had a black and white TV set and usually had no electricity. Ahh...happy times.

Have you heard Jason's childrens album?

If someone had told me back in 1983 that the frontmen from Jason and the Scorchers and the Del Fuegos would put out kid's records, I'd have laughed!

71. Kick fuckin' nutz!
Another Del Fuegos fan. I thought I was the only one around. Their first LP is one of the best of the early 80's IMHO. That bass player can cut a groove! Saw them live once. Didn't care so much for the second LP.

"When love walks a poison snake I get nervous and shakey..." great song. So is "You Treat Like a Back Seat Nothin'". I have to YouTube them up now!

24. Grateful Dead/Jerry Garcia did tons of Dylan songs...
In fact, Dylan himself said that they did them better than he did and that he would steal the GD's arrangements for himself. He said that Jerry could find the song in some of his worst songs and give them a new life.

Tangled Up In Blue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILhXlJp2hqE&feature=PlayList&p=BD5918EED060319F&index=5

I Shall Be Released http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFiIJ4vW2IU&feature=related

Queen Jane Approximately http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cob00SYvHE8

A little known story is that Bob actually asked the Dead if he could be a full time member. One member vetoed the idea however.

sure, I'm biased, I love The Dead. Still don't mean they don't play the best damn Dylan covers around! :hippie:

Check out this stunning It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes a Train To Cry - live from 09/10/1991 -- http://www.archive.org/download/gd1991-09-10.mtx.amdig.gems.98132.flac16/gd1991-09-10.GEMS.MTX.d1t04_vbr.mp3

66. yet the Dylan and the Dead album leaves me flat...
I agree that some of their best songs were Dylan tunes, but together it just didn't happen for me - I chuck it up to a not so great time in Dylan's career coupled with not enough rehearsal time.

72. The album sucked but some of the shows were awesome...
Eugene for one was amazing. But the format was weird with the Dead blazing face for two sets and then having to dial it down for Dylan's stuff...I liked the format he had with Tom Petty where he would come out and do a couple of songs and then split for a while then do a couple of more.........

I never knew the played together. Neil is alway all over the stage, To me it looked like Bruce was trying to figure out how to mesh with Neil, not musically but on the stag. To me once he did that it was pure energy.

Sometimes she takes too many liberties with the songs of others... of course that's just opinion, but I think a cover shouldn't be completely transformed from the original version.
