My sister's house is on fire.
Got woke from a sound sleep a couple hours ago with "the call". Not exactly the best way to begin the day, finding out shit like that. Everyone got out okay- barely.

I did what little I could, but mostly ended up wandering around trying not to be in the way of the engine company. All I can really do is wait. I'm sure they'll be involved in the clean-up for hours.

Lounge vibes would not be amiss.

3. Aw geez.

Good thoughts for all. From experience (of others, not mine)---prepare for long, frustrating months of repair and clean up.

4. So sorry to hear. Our house burned down 3 years ago this month.
Some advice:

If the insurance company tries to buy her off for less than insured amount, get in touch
with a public adjuster to help the process.

If the mortgage company tries to screw her over (yes, you still have to make payments
on a burned down house)get in touch with the agency that licenses banks in her state
and file a complaint.

Vibes to your sister and family. It's a terrifying ordeal.

5. Major, major vibes for your sister and her loved ones, my dear PN6!
Oh god, how awful.

I hope they were able to save the important stuff, besides their lives, of course...

6. That's awful!
I am glad they escaped unharmed but house fires are really traumatic. My best to them!

7. Update
The house, along with almost everything in it, is gone. There wasn't enough left to fit into the back of her Honda Element. No loss of life, but the house itself will be demolished. I snapped some pics while there a few minutes ago- I may at some point post a photo essay.

But not just now.

8. Just imagining what that would be like makes me feel tired.
I'm sending vibes that getting back to normal life goes swiftly and smoothly for your sister and her family.

9. Oh no! I feel sick just thinking about it. I have a fear of losing my cherished memories
like pics and videos of the kids in a fire that way.

Does she have insurance? Can she rebuild? *vibes of comfort going out*

10. They're fully insured
That's how I got my info- the insurance agent was on site while I was there and her and I had a short conversation.

That's one reason I've always tried to not get too attached to "things"- you never know when they'll vanish in a puff of smoke literally in front of your eyes.
