Update on my Dad...It's not good.
I mentioned my Dad has liver cancer, we found out today the bad news.
It's terminal.

His doctor figures he has 2 months left, at best.

Here he is at his 79th birthday party last October:

Damn it...

1. Hugs!
I am so very sorry. Your dad has a kind face. And the bad stuff always seems to happen to the good guys!

Again, so sorry.

3. He's known the love of a good family.
From the look on his face I'd say he's had a good life and he knows it. What more can a man ask of his time here?

8. Do NOT give up hope. My dad was diagnosed with Stage IV liver cancer in February 2009.
He has been through endless rounds of chemo but was in very good health at diagnosis (lifelong runner and healthy eater). At diagnosis, he was given the same outlook as your father, and instead of conceding, he has made the most of whatever time is left. Admittedly, he has very good insurance which has allowed him to more fully enjoy his life without the nausea (and the worry), but your father's diagnosis is not necessarily an immediate death sentence.

Sending good thoughts to you and yours, Archae.

He looks like one helluva fun fella. I hope that the doctors are misguided in their prognosis and that you all have the time together to say what needs to be said and to share many more happy days together.

27. I'm sorry.went through the same with my dad.
The most important thing is to make sure he's comfortable. My dad was a tough military lifer, but towards the end,he needed quite a bit of pain medications.he was on hospice, who took great care of his needs. If your dad is considering that, ask me anything you need to know.I will be passing loving thoughts to you and your family.Let me know if you need anything.

32. Get him into a hospice program
Nurses will come out and make sure he's comfortable and not in pain. Home health aides can help your mother bathe him.
I'm sorry.
