Visit to Praha. (pictures)
Spent the day in Prague. Magnificent city.

Usual population about 1.4 million, but I'd say the number was at least twice that during my visit on Saturday.

RAIN....lots and lots of rain. Ankle deep in some places. People were using everything and anything to stay as dry as possible...a losing battle.

Mixture of Old Town/New Town pictures below. (Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, the Vltava River, Wenceslas Square, etc..)

A small sampling...

Prague Castle (early morning fog)

Even the statue looks resigned to the wet.

Lots of different spires from different time periods.

Wall of Vines

Prague Astronomical Clock. We got to see the top of the hour action. The blue windows open and the apostles all take a turn peering out the windows. To the right is a skeleton - or the "death knell"

We're sitting at the driest table, drinking something called a "Tiger Latte" - think chai tea but with coffee...it was beyond yummy!

"Rock and Roll!"

Off the wall...

4. Hey! I took as many as I could between downpours and light drizzles.
Then the downpours won the day and I put my camera away. Still, got several hundred shots though. lol

7. Glad for the shots,
not so glad for the flooding there ... Yikes. http://www.spiegel.de/panorama/0,1518,710775,00.html

Looked like rain earlier here today but now the grey clouds are vanished. Still might be a thunderstorm night, and my cloudbusting isn't that fast. ;)

9. People there were worried it might flood worse...and it did in several places.
I saw the news earlier about the deaths. :(

19. No thunderstorm.
The grey clouds vanished, and now it's in the 80's with a few clouds in the night sky.

We're pretty much protected by the Southern alps from any real bad weather here, but the North of Switzerland had some flooding too the last days: http://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/panorama/vermischtes/bildstrecke.html?id=30590

23. It's pretty much manageable here,
but it still seems bad in the Eastern part of Germany since a nearby Polish dam broke. Thinking of them, too.

5. Wow. A beautiful city with a real lasting heritage.
Imagine.

I sure wish we had something like that here in America...

6. Prague Castle alone is a reflection of time and history.
With its many buildings reflecting the different influences (art, time, leaders)

8. Thank you for sharing!
Prague is the city I most want to visit someday. When I was a little girl, my grandmother told me about the "castles" she saw there on her journey to America. It really looks wonderful even in the rain. :hi:

10. You're welcome! I hope you get to visit!!!!
Prague reminded me of other places I've been but at the same time was just so unique. It was weird...in a good way.

11. My wife and I love that city!
We had better luck with the weather the couple of times we were there.

It's only an hour and ten minutes to fly there from our town, but somehow, we never got around to it until 2006.

12. It truly is a great city. We drove..with stops, maybe 6 hours away.
Probably less...we made a couple of leisurely stops along the way.

Once I got good and wet - and that's with a rain coat and umbrella - I just went with the flow. (so to speak) Had a wonderful time!

The way things have been going in my life, that may be the closest I ever get to visiting there. Regardless, I love a good travelogue. Many thanks!

18. My dear Solly Mack!
Ah, those are wonderful pics! I must say, better than mine! We were on a tour, and though I LOVE touring in a group, sometimes you don't get the same opportunities for just wandering around...

You have quite the great eye...

The giant egg is stunning! We too saw the Astronomical Clock and I got a nice pic of that as well...

The different spires showing different ages is wonderful!

It is a beautiful city...

Thank you so much for sharing these!

20. Thank you, CaliforniaPeggy. I like group tours as well. The right group can produce
some truly fun times.

The egg was in the courtyard of a shop that sells hand-painted eggs. It was located up an alley that dead-ended at the courtyard /shop. There were display cabinets filled with brightly colored eggs along the alley way.

25. A beautiful city; I visited there
5 years ago. Did you know there's a sex torture museum there? It's about 50 meters from the main square. Also, Big Sister is there! Shhhh...don't tell anyone...let's keep that a secret!

28. I saw the medieval torture instruments museum but not the sex torture museum.
I got a not-so-good picture of the sign. I didn't rush over to look inside though.
