1. The Great Train Robbery. I think it was 1903.
Right?

2. I've seen precisely one (1) of the movies on that list.
So close, but yes, I've seen "No Country for Old Men" a few times now.

3. I havent seen many of these
but I can recommend Capturing the Friedman's, I saw it a few weeks ago and I am finding myself still thinking about that movie. It is really powerful.

4. I've only seen 11 of the films on that list, but I agree whole-heartedly with their #1 choice.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was easily my favorite film of the decade, the one that made me think the most, the one that I look back on the most fondly.

6. I really liked "Adaptation". I laughed so hard. I'd read the orchid thief beforehand. I can't think
of a better ode to movie-making.

9. Sorry, but 'The New World' is on my worst list on freakin' #9
If I was young again, I would get really mad over this stupid list!

10. "No Country for Old Men"-- Seriously?? Do I really need to dredge up that debate again?
Edited on Mon Aug-09-10 01:28 PM by Blue_Tires
And the mere fact they can list 50 movies without "The Lives of Others" just means they never saw it...

I don't know how high documentaries rated on their judging scale, but "Manda Bala" and "Sicko" at least deserve consideration...

And out of the ones I've seen, "A.I." definitely doesn't belong...

12. Yeah I questioned a number of these choices.
There were a couple that were blatantly out of place. If they wanted to list a sci-fi movie, they would have been better off with The Island than AI...

13. Depends... Do you now admit it was one of the best films of the last 25 years?
If you still doubt that, you need to have it brought up until you are enlightened.

I, however, because of my perfect taste in movies, cannot understand the travesty of including any Lord of the Rings flicks or of putting "Eternal Sunshine" anywhere near the top of the list. Okay, yeah, it fooled a lot of people into thinking it didn't suck, so maybe ease it in at around 48, but number 1? That's just wrong.

I hope you now understand that when your taste does not align with mine, you must adjust.

11. 17... not too bad considering I started avoiding really sad dramatic movies a couple of years ago
lol.

Waking Life was quite an experience.

14. I've seen fourteen plus halves of three.
The three I saw halves of I didn't finish because I didn't like them. Including their number one pick.

The others I mostly liked. Even "The Two Towers," which was the one part of that trilogy I did like.

15. Seen about 8 of those...
...and have never heard of half of them.

Also, I thought the Fellowship of the Rings was a better movie than the Two Towers.

16. Consider the source
AV Club is an entertainment paper found in NYC inside the print version of The Onion (yes, there is one!). So it should be titled "The Best Hipster Films of the '00s".

And Royal Tenenbaums at No. 17? I was amazed just how little that one managed to get out of an outstanding cast.

18. "A.I."?! A fucking I????!!!
Not a chance in hell. Put this on any list, and you must be talking about the worst movies and the worst concepts for a movie ever made. A.I. sucks green Shetland pony wang. This list has no credibility, even should I agree with any of the selections.

:puke:A.I.
