BREAKING: Actress Marla Gibbs ("The Jeffersons") refuses to apologize for "Professional Left" remark
Edited on Tue Aug-10-10 09:00 PM by Amerigo Vespucci

CNN, LOS ANGELES - Actress Marla Gibbs, best known as the feisty maid "Florence" on the hit TV sitcom "The Jeffersons," declined to publicly apologize for remarks made in an interview for The Hill.

"These people ought to be drug tested,'' Gibbs said. "They will be satisfied when we have Canadian healthcare and we've eliminated the Pentagon. That's not reality. They wouldn't be satisfied if Dennis Kucinich was president."

When confronted by reporters, Gibbs replied "Those remarks were made by White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. He's the Press Secretary for the White House. I played a maid on TV. See the difference?"

Reporters were not satisfied with Gibbs' evasive tactics and sarcastic tone. "Does this mean you refuse to apologize," asked The New York Times' William "Curly Bill" Brocius.

Gibbs heaved a sigh and replied "Well excuse me all over the place."

Representatives for Marla Gibbs could not be reached for further comment.
