Locking in gas prices for the winter heating season: yes or no?
Our house is heated with propane, and right now we can lock in for $1.59/gallon. Last winter at the peak we were paying over $2/gallon.

On the one hand, we would have a constant bill with no shockers. On the other hand, if the economy dips again energy prices should fall as well so locking in might end up costing us more.

Anyone have any thoughts on the issue? thanks!

2. I agree with post #1. I had Suburban propane in NH for 10 years. Gouge, gouge, gouge.
It didn't matter WHAT the economy was doing. They would let the 500 gallon tank get well below 10% and the price would suddenly go up by 20 cents a gallon (a week later) before they topped it off. During the off-peak, when prices were lower, they wouldn't top off the tank - maybe 50% if I was lucky.
