How soon is too soon for someone to be asking you to marry them?

I'm thinking first date is kinda pushing it...

1. Nothing says run like a first date proposal..
But I did not get married until I was a couple of weeks shy of my fiftieth birthday, your mileage may vary.

2. My Dad asked my Mom a week after they met. At the end of the second week,
they got married. This coming October, they will celebrate their 64th anniversary.

The only reason they made it is because my Mom keeps her mouth shut. LOL. Dad is STUBBORN and Mom is very passive. So it works for them.
Heck, Dad reads stories in the newspaper about 'old married couples' who die within hours of each other, and he cries! He's turning into a softie in his old age.

(Back story. They were both just out of WWII, both having served, Mom here in the US of A, and Dad in the Pacific. They met, had a few dates, Mom mentions that
she doesn't really like California and she's thinking of heading back to Oklahoma. Dad says "well, why don't you stay here and marry me and we'll start a life
together?" It worked.)

Funny story. Their wedding night, they get married, someone gets them tickets to go see a wrestling match. Someone finds out it is their wedding day,
makes them come up into the wrestling ring and dance - and they DON'T dance, gave them some champagne, which Dad promptly drank. They went home
for their first night of wedded bliss, and Dad falls asleep because of too much Champagne. LOL.

5. I asked after about 6 weeks-we met in September, married in January
almost 18 years ago. Even better now than it was then.

I guess it varies from case to case, but 1 date is probably not a really good sample.

How do YOU feel about it - you obviously have some reservations...and

it only works if BOTH of you feel the same way.

15. We lived together for 16 years
before getting married. I was a 47-year-old-first timer and this was a hat trick for him.

It will be 5 years this 8/26 and we wouldn't change a thing.

So don't ask us about rushing into things.
