6. I guess Modern Love by Bowie does not count-- although it does have
the refrain -- church on time

15. The people must have something good to read on a SUNDAY!
First thing I thought when I saw the op. That is what I thought the song title was, turns out it is called "The Leader".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpI9TkGTuQY&feature=related

Some of Mick's slick rockabilly licks under Joe's rap with a huge English disco backbeat. The Clash indeed.

For good measure, here is some steel drum/gospel Clash.

Joe turned my life left like a mofo. Can I can get an amen?

18. Amen..."After all this time, to believe in Jesus. After all these drugs, I thought I was him"
There's a great poem by a guy named Dave Lordon (can't remember the title) about Joe's effect on him and on all of us "punks, rastas, zombies"...Don't want to hijack Sky Masterson's thread onto another subject, but if I can find it, I'll PM it to you if you want.

19. Not being a Christian, I don't know if 'chapel" is synonymous with Church, but here's two:

"Chapel of Love" was by the Dixie Cups, 1964.

25. Black and white footage of The Dixie Cups lip-synching it posted above
with some sort of bizarre dancing behind them. No one on you tube seemed to know what show it was from except that it wasn't Shindig. Speculation was mainly the Clay Cole Show, (from NYC apparently). P.S. Not trying to "show you up" or anything like that for not noticing it was already mentioned; it's not like I had it in the subject line of my post; just thought since you mentioned it, you might enjoy the old black and white film of them.:hi:

Sorry, I didn't notice your post. I thought it might be from Hullabaloo? I remember seeing that brick wall background on old shows re-broadcast on PBS.

No need whatsoever to apologize for not noticing my post; that's why I wrote my reply to yours the way I did....Didn't know PBS had broadcast old Hullabaloo shows. That's pretty cool. Used to watch it when it was on originally (er...no wait; that's impossible since that would mean I'm old...) .
