My daughter is going into THIRD GRADE! this year -- seems like yesterday she was starting Kindergarten.

She may be cute now, but she is genitically programmed to turn into a teenager. Enjoy it while you can.

23. Teenagers really aren't so bad.
They can be really sweet and fun. (I've survived three teenagers.) Just remember they really are the adorable little kid you knew, they've just been temporarily kidnapped by their hormones..
She is absolutely beautiful, guitar man. Enjoy.

9. thanks everybody
Having y'all here for support really means a lot :)

It was hard knowing she was headed off to her first day with me stuck 100 miles away at work. I can't wait to get home tonight so she can tell me all about her first day. :)

16. Awwwww . . . what a charmer.
As stated above (and I know you know this), enjoy your daughter at each stage in her life.

Just as a fyi - my daughter grew up to be a scientist. On walks she used to put rocks in her mouth. Oh yes, she's a geologist - did I mention that? LOL

20. That is just too cute for words
As everyone has said, enjoy them while they're little. It goes by so fast. SO FAST.

My little princesses are both in the 30's and career girls. It was just yesterday they were toddling off to their first days at school.

Oh one thing: you know when they start asking you for money? That never stops. The amounts just get larger. :)

24. Awww... you can cry a little
She is such a sweetie and it is so difficult to watch them grow up.

This is my youngest who started his first day of school 16 years ago and I still cry when I have to leave him... :)

30. Thanks everybody
Each and every one of you for all the replies, the great compliments and all your support. It was a really busy day for me, which helped me to get through with a minimum amount of blubbering. It's just been a really emotional time for me lately, so many changes all at once. I don't think I would make it through without all of you :)

31. Take LOTS of pics!!
I remember the day our eldest started school. Such a big occasion.

At this very moment, as coincidence would have it, she's sitting on a couch about 5 feet from us, visiting
us in a house hidden in the dunes of Cape Cod. She is now 27. The time flies faster than Haley's Comet.

Savor every second!

She is beautiful!!

I always wanted at least one daughter, but I had 5 sons, and I adore each and every one. But oh my goodness, have you been blessed, guitar man.

Yes, you should cry.

I certainly would.

I think I will, on your behalf. I hope you have many happy school memories with her!!

35. Driving around in cars with boys.....My brother adopted twin girls when they were 8...
they are now college age. When they were 14, he wanted to lock them up till they were 30 or so; realising it was all out of his control, he became very religious instead...you may have an interesting future.

All the best...

mark
