1. Didn't Frampton come alive then too?
I am pretty sure he did. I saw the show at Winterland I am pretty sure my middle son was conceived in the backseat of my Dad's Caddy to the tune of "Do You Feel The way I Do"...

3. I witnessed him Coming Alive! and then taking a nose dive
With these two post-"Comes Alive" albums he became the Amelia Earhart of multi-platinum rock.

5. He was sooo pretty! The Face.
I saw him in 1977 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Before the downfall.

6. I saw a life-sized poster, similar to the "I'm In You" album cover...
...at the San Jose Flea Market. It was HUGE, almost life-sized. He was shirtless. That image, coupled with the reliance on "I'm In You"-style ballads and the tragic career misstep of that horrible movie with the Bee Gees, killed Frampton's "base."

When he was riding high on "Coming Alive!," he played shows like Bill Graham's "Day On The Green" (July 1977). The lineup was Frampton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana, Outlaws.

The audience for that kind of show had no interest in Peter Fawcett-Majors Frampton. He may have received bad counsel from his management (and others), but ultimately, he willingly pulled the trigger.

In 2010, of course, he's back, and an "elder statesman" of rock, which is kind of cool...but when he fell, he fell FAST and HARD.

9. Supposedly, the Bee Gees themselves were begging their agents to let them out of that movie.
Of course, they reveal that NOW . . .

11. It's time for Frank Zappa's "I Have Been In You"

Edited to add: I saw Frank in concert back then--the first time I saw him live--and I got the treat of hearing this, and a number of other songs that would eventually be on "Sheik Yerbouti," for the first time. It was so cool to hear all these songs before the album even happened.

28. None of us knew how beautiful we were.
I don't know who originally said this, but the old saying "Youth is wasted on the young" is SOOOO true!

2. REO Speedwagon's live album was called...
You Get What You Play For. Pretty good, too.

And Uriah Heep's was simply Uriah Heep Live. I have it on disk.

4. I saw REO weedwagon BOOED OFF THE STAGE AT Winterland....
Blondie opend for them, right when Blondie was just getting going. REO was at the top of their game (as it was). Blondie blew everyone away with their raw power, punkishness and sexuality. The crowd clamored for a encore. Bill Graham told everyone that he would ask REO if they would let Blondie encore. He came back a few minutes later and said that REO would not let them encore.

They never finsished the second song. The crowd just blasted them. One of my favorite rock and roll moments. Whaddabunchofdouchebags.

7. REO's Kevin Cronin sweats more that any ten men you or I know, combined
A couple of years ago I saw one of those "Comcast On Demand" free concerts on cable, with the reconstituted REO and Styx.

After two numbers, singer Kevin Cronin had pit stains the size of dinner plates under his arms.

But the real reason I can't stomach those guys is the rhyming in "I Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore." It's the classic rock equivalent of waterboarding.

A contributing factor to the "ex" status? Yes, but that's only one item from the list.
