2. Yeah, I know

I'm pretty sure I'm about the only person on the planet who feels that Betty can be redeemed. I suppose that has to do with the fact that her character was the same generation as my mother and I feel those women were dealt such a shitty hand. They had more autonomy than any before them but when they got married, they found themselves just as bound to managing their households as their mothers. There were a lot of secretly resentful moms in the 1960s and while I think Betty loves her children intellectually, deep down, she wishes she had never had them. I think Betty's problem with Sally is more about regret than sheer meanness.

All that stuff about what she was like when she was a child, and how her mom treated her. I'm with Sally's doc--looks like Betty could use more visits to her own psychiatrist.
