Visited Minneapolis this weekend
hadn't been there for a long time.
Just blown away by the beauty and openness.
Kid just moved there and she plans on staying a while........

1. I was there this weekend too! Well, mostly in St. Paul. I always thought the two cities
had to be pretty similar but I actually discovered they're quite different. Maybe it's just because I live in a very large city but St. Paul seemed eerily quiet. There were all these buildings and businesses and restaurants but nobody was in them and nobody was walking around. We kept wondering how anything stayed open. Even the science museum and children's museum seemed very quiet for a weekend. I know Chicago's loop gets a bit quiet on the weekend but the museums down there are hopping and there are people walking around the parks and such. It was odd.

It is a beautiful place, though I couldn't handle the winter. I can't even handle the winter in Chicago and we don't have it as bad (or have any hills).

2. I'm impressed that even in lean times, maintaining the parks is a priority.
I have been dismayed by the smog in recent years, however.

3. I love the twin cities
we go there every summer. The como zoo and the zoo in apple valley are very nice places to visit. My kids always liked the science museum.

4. Hey, you're supposed to notify the MN DUers if you're going to be in town!
We like to meet the out-of-town folks.

6. For larger cities, my preference is to live in NYC, but if I couldn't do that, I'd go Twin Cities.
Totally.

I love the twin cities. Totally fucking awesome in every possible way that cities can be awesome.
