Promises in the Dark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qUFZwJb9GA

This is a Benatar appreciation/slobber thread.

The pantsuits, the high heels, the cheekbones, the eyeliner, Myron Grombacher...hey! How did HE get in this reminiscence?

Post 'em if you got 'em.

4. And she was uber-sexy and sultry WITHOUT sleazing it up like Britney
and Aguilera, etc.

She was just intrinsically HOT. And she had something else the autotuned Barbies today don't have--talent.

Man, what a voice.

6. She didn't have to be.
Neither did Joan Jett, another hottie from the era. Both very, very talented.

11. Saw her once, back in the 80s.
OMG, she tore the place UP. So nice to see someone in concert who can actually SING, high notes and all.

I used to be able to mimic every riff in all her songs, but I don't sing much anymore. Once in a while I'll fire up "Heartbreaker" and give it a go, but it's not the same. But I'll never stop loving Pat.

And her blues album--awesome.

18. I think she's hotter now - without the shitty, ugly, fucking stupid 80s hair and garb.
She was definitely hot back then, but it was an ugly goddamn decade (especially for women) that took a lot of beautiful people and made them look nasty.

The 70s did it with the men, but the 80s did it with everyone - totally Reaganesque: everything plastic looking, fake, overdone, and ugly to the core.

I was amazed at how tiny she is, she might be near 5 ft tall with a big voice. Good concert!

23. I prefer the black mini skirt look in this video.
You are a total pop music geek if you even know who Myron Grombacher is.

:yourock:

My drummer has his home phone number but I can't say how he got it. My drummer is an adult with mild autism. I had to explain to him how it would be very un-cool to actually call Myron even if you are a huge fan.

Her early stuff was really good IMHO. The latter made for MTV stuff...not so much.

I know one thing. When I saw this video, her husband/guitarist became big influence on my stage wear for years to come. Tight jeans, sleveless button-up shirt... I never did get a red Tele though.
