Anyone who has raised, or is raising kids knows this.

You need some kind of infrastructure.

Someone to help, because the manual labor can drive you insane. I had no idea raising a kid would involve so much manual labor.

Thing is, we have some family here, and also the day care subsidized by the State of CA, and the school system.

That's a village. A village doesn't have to be a pocket in rural America.

It can be a community support group. It can be your neighbors. It can be an internet group.

When the GOP says "It take a family" they are discounting all those folks in cities, away from their "Families."

Basically, your proverbial mother asking you to move back to Bumfuckistan.
