How hard is it to strip paint?
I'm planning on remodeling my bedroom in 2011. What I would love to do is to remove the layers upon layers of paint from the windows, door & trim and replace it with a more natural 'stained' type wood paint. (the room itself would be some sort of earthly green).

My mother thinks this would be too tedious and I should just paint over the paint. I think it's worth the effort to make it look right and really pretty

Your thoughts?

1. Well, it's definitely doable
But you'll probably want to kill yourself for deciding to strip the point approximately mid-way through the project.

4. Depends on the paint. Latex will come off easy. Oil based paints will take either

a stronger chemical or a heat gun and more scraping. Then there's the homemade stuff I found on my 158 year-old woodwork. After using a heat gun and strippers of various types, I still couldn't get the pores of the wood clean enough to clear coat, so I went with a 'faux' cherry.

P.S. It's taken me 15 years to strip all the woodwork in my old house.
