Is "Kush" supposed to be stronger than regular weed? What is the difference?

1. Word on the street is

it's more potent (higher percentage of THC)...not the best but it's considered 'premium'.

And there's really no guaranteeing that the "Kush" you're getting is actually Kush. But yes, real Kush is going to be stronger than your typical ditch weed by a long shot. Although finding real Kush in the U.S. is exceedingly rare as it typically comes from the Hindu Kush mountain range. Kush is a variety of indica that provides a very strong body high. It's kind of laze around your house for hours listening to music and watching the tube kind of bud.

I tend not to so much go by the name when evaluating bud as anyone can call anything they're selling just about anything they want. The best way to determine quality is by sampling it and deciding for yourself. But if you don't have the option of sampling and you want a good idea of quality, look at and smell the buds. Does it appear seedless (sinsemilla)? If so, that's a good sign. Do you see kif (crystals) and orange hair on the bud? That's another good sign. Finally, the smell. Generally, you want your bud to have the pungent aroma of ammonia. Generally, the stronger the smell, the better. If your bud smells like lawn trimmings, that's generally not a good sign.

3. Originally, like back in the Vietnam - secret Cambodia war days, "Kush" was pot from a region

The Hindu Kush (Valley on Afghanistan/Pakistan Border) grew an incredible strain of marijuana normally used to make hashish; some brought it over and I can only suppose that the name became embedded in the stoner vernacular , shortened to "KUSH"
