Let's talk about Duct Tape, Shall We?
First of all, duct tape and children just should be in the same sentence, much less a news article about very poor parenting.

But I digress...

Seriously, I almost become angry when people rave about it's "many uses".

It's for ducts, works wonderfully well for ducts.

It's crap for any other purpose, leaves behind adhesive, looks like crap.

What I have for these purposes is gaffer's tape, designed specifically for a wide range of taping duties.

Gorilla tape is pretty good, too.

Gaffer's tape:

1. Have second Gorilla Tape.
It kept the front bumper of my car from falling off until I got it to the body shop.

4. I use duct tape to mend fences
The real ones like on a horse farm. When we find a broken board we wrap it in DT for a quick fix. I occassionaly think how stupid Rowdy Yates would look riding the fences with rolls and rolls of Duct Tape tied to his saddle?

7. I used duct tape recently to make bicycle fenders
That and some cardboard. They work brilliantly.

10. Count me out. I'm a non-believer.
It's never helped me when in a bind. More than anything its totally worthless when confronted with water. It was designed to use to seal ducts when joined. Thats it. it does that fine, but pretty not much worth a tinkers damn for anything else. For my money give me JB Weld and baling wire and 2 minute epoxy.
