BELMONT, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts woman faces assault charges after Belmont police said she hit a motorist in the face with a bag of dog feces. Police said Tuesday that the woman, whose name has not been released, admitted tossing doggie dung at the driver because she believed he was speeding.

Belmont Lt. Rick Santangelo said the woman initially contacted police last week and reported that she was walking her dog when she saw the motorist nearly hit a man on a bicycle.

Santangelo said the motorist contacted police the next day to report being struck in the face with dog feces.

The woman was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, vandalism to property and disorderly conduct.

2. Dog poo is a dangerous weapon? And a speeding car isn't? Bah humbug.

5. I wonder if the fact that she hit him in the face with it while he was driving influenced
the charge - I mean, even the safest driver in the world might lose control with a face full of Fido's feces...

I'm a bit torn here: I dislike reckless drivers, and the story is funny as heck, but it's clearly never a good idea to assault someone who's driving.

(And another thought: she must have an excellent arm to get a floppy bag onto a moving target like that.)

7. Oh! It was in a bag? I'm disappointed.
You're right that it's not a good idea to assault a driver, but I can really sympathize with her.
I use an intersection every day here in the city that is a real blood pressure raiser. It's a three-pronged intersection and people driving the side without a cross street continally run the red light. They are often chatting on their cell phones as they do. Occasionally I have walked into the street, stood in front of them and pointed at the red light above their heads, yelling "red light!" and "get off the phone!" Often they get really outraged. (I know, I know, I'm a fool to step in their way, I know I know, I don't do it anymore...just yell at them from the curb. They still get all huffy and outraged. Like they have every right to interpret traffic signals in their own way...)
There, now that I've vented, I feel better.
And yes, I am aware that one of them might be armed and even shorter tempered than I am.
Grrrr.

14. The bag part is a bit of a buzzkill, isn't it?

There are plenty of drivers around here that I'd like to pelt with turds too - and a bunch of feeble-minded cyclists and pedestrians as well. But, of course, that sort of behavior is best left to fantasy...

3. I know that town well and this surprises me
Most people in that town are the type who have a stick up their ass. I wouldn't picture someone from Belmont doing that.

10. I can sympathize.
I hate speeders. My neighbor and I each lost a cat due to speeders.

12. What evidence was there of this man speeding?
Except the opinion of one person with obvious anger issues?

And if you love your pets, either keep them inside or somewhere safe from traffic.

17. If you have pet cats unrestrained outside, that doesn't say much for you.
If your pet can leave your property at will, you are not keeping it responsibly.

19. Whatever
She is the only pet I have ever lost to an automobile. The only reason she was outside was her behavior became uncontrollable after the latest addition to our family. Peeing on clothes, counter tops, the computer, etc. Nothing was physically wrong per the vet. I got her two extra litter boxes (5 in the house total) and nothing worked. Letting her outside for 2 hours a day made her very happy and stopped her peeing everywhere.
