6. How coincidental!!!!
.
Good morning, Miss Honeychurch!!! :hi:
.
.
In 1973 or '74, I met an ex-American (in all senses of the word) soldier
who loved Germany so much, he opted for a European discharge (which is
something that I seriously considered... and I might be there still but for
the fact that MiddleFingerMomDad was seriously ill and not expected to
live long (he ended up thriving until 1991).
.
This friend recorded (with some financial success) a 45 rpm record of
"The Lion Sleeps Tonight".
.
He was, by the time I met him, something of an "illegal alien". He made
a very, VERY good living (2-3x the money he would have in a factory) as a
street musician in Nurnberg... but "street musician" was not an acceptable
job to qualify to extend your worker's visa -- so he had to find someone
to claim him as a more traditional "employee" every year.
.
He was an exceptionally nice and well-loved man -- so he had no problems
finding people who would help him.
.
.
.

5. very funny! Do all Swedes and New Yorkers live in austere modernist houses?

Makes my comfy, cluttered Victorian seem well, very busy!

I work in customer service and I literally hear a call/calls like
that every single day.
.
Truly unbelievable logic/expectations.

10. You're welcome!
There are some gems on that site. Like one where the office worker had wanted a "wireless" keyboard, so he cut the wires off and wondered why it didn't work anymore. If you find that one, you'll like the way the call ends ;)

13. http://www.lileks.com - I love it, go explore.... also:
you can try Fark.com,
BoingBoing,
Obscurestore.com
mental floss magazine (you can google any of these and get the right link....)

... you could also check out theTIME magazine's website and explore their best 50 (or 100? Can't recall) websites and blogs by year.... it can lead you to very interesting sites...

Download Irfanview (read the specs and system requirements first - don't think it's available for Macs) and do some "photoshopping" if that interests you...

Use Google street view to explore far off places you've always wanted to go to (or went to in the past and loved)... Paris is one I explored recently... I think they just added Antarctica which I haven't checked out so I can't offer any opinion on it.

What else...

Tough one for me - I don't understand boredom - there is always something interesting to think of, look up, research, explore... give your brain more credit! : )

good luck!! : )
