Denver Police say a call came in around 10 a.m. about a truck that had run into several power lines on Evans Avenue between Holly and Dahlia Streets. They believe the truck was the only vehicle involved, and police are still investigating.
http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=157895&catid=339This totally reminds me of the time I brought down some powerlines with a semi.
I was fresh out of trucking school and was driving with a trainer at my first job.
This trainer was a filthy old man, always looking at cars that pass trying to get some cleavage shots, always getting on the mic in various cities and summoning up hookers on the CB radio.I even had to sit in the TV room at a truck stop once because my trainer was with a lot lizard in the sleeper. ICK!! He was gross too, nothing special about his personality or anything.Oh, and of course,he was married while doing all of this.
Anyway,we pulled into some small town and began looking for the warehouse where we were suppose to drop our load. I was driving and my trainer was in the passenger seat. I missed the turn to the warehouse and started looking for a place to turn around. So my trainer and i were scanning looking for an area big enough to turn a 53' trailer. I finally found a vacant lot and started heading towards it. Across the street from the vacant lot was a tiny little bar with a couple of young 20-somethings sitting on the porch in their bikini tops taking in the sun.
Suddenly my trainer told me to use the bar parking lot to turn around (it was a tiny lot). I argued with him that I didn't think i could get turned around in such a tiny spot and want to use the vacant lot we found. No No No!! my trainer said..take a left! take a left! He wanted me to drive through the parking lot so he could gawk at the women sitting on the porch.
So I gingerly pulled in and started to turn around. BAM!!!! I tore down some overhead electric wires and half the pole. It sucked, electric company came and the cops came and took reports. We had to report to our company too,of course.Because the logbooks at the time showed that my trainer should have been in the sleeper berth and I was driving. So I had to take the FULL BLAME for this crap all because my disgusting trainer wanted to gawk at girls young enough to be his granddaughters. It took me weeks to shake off that incident.
PS..while the cop was filling out his report, I decided to go in the little bar and get a coke. Very hot that day. I walked into the bar and ALMOST said,"Why is it so dark in here?" Then I realized, I was the one who pulled down the powerlines.
