1. Not dead, but terminal
Once everyone who grew up with the tactile experience of handling print media dies off, its final demise will happen quickly.

That's my uneducated prediction.

2. Prematurely pronounced dead.
My local library is always busy. There will always, always be people who would rather have an actual book.
Not everyone has a computer or even wants one. I don't see myself paying over $100 for a little screen thingy & then paying to have the book dumped into it.

3. I think both will survive. Paper books will be works of art or legacies
and ebooks will be good reads. At least, that's my take, as someone who loves both. I buy books that have meaning for me or are beautiful, and for a good old novel or poetry collection I have the Kindle. It's light, I can carry it around in my purse, and since I'm one of those people who reads three books at once I can have them all with me. It's win-win as far as I'm concerned.

4. I am contemplating getting a Kindle...
...but there is NOTHING like a book in my hands. The Smell, the page turning. I love the written word. And book stores and libraries do it for me. I'm sick, I know. LOL

6. I had a conversation like this the other night.
The thing I love about books is that they have an age to them. There's nothing more exhilarating and surreal than picking up a book from the 1700s and reading its contents. A book is like a fine wine. It gets better as it ages. In a hundred years from now, when we're looking at books being published only on a digital format, there won't be any history to it. It'll just be another digital book.
