Some odd, late night thoughts
Was reading a thread about retirement age and began to think that really the only reason one wants to live life to the fullest and possibly enjoy a long retirement is that it gives others something positive to say about us after we are gone. I know of no one buried in the local cemetery who passes away the seasons thinking about all the fun he had during his and the contributions he made to the community.

Some years ago, an uncle told me of a man who returned from WWII shattered and a drunk. He was found dead one day sometime in the late 40's behind the gas station next to the old local school. Next time I see that uncle, I should ask what his name was because even though he had decades of his life taken away by war and drink, he ought to be remembered. A woman once held her newborn baby son and had great dreams for him but that baby boy was destined to die alone behind a gas station. He ought to be remembered.

1. nice
You're a good person. I read the Sunday obituaries for the same reason. Just so that someone will have read about each person.
