How I wish we could honor the wisdom of "pretty is as pretty does." What's really "pretty" is treating one another with genuine empathy -- THAT'S my definition of beauty. But it seems so many of us (including myself, sometimes) are unwilling to invest in trying to peel back the layers--they might not be pretty-- of those around us to find the human core. :(

3. Even sadder, I think, is that so many of us as women quantify/qualify ourselves as "un/fuckable."

That's heartbreaking enough, but even more heartbreaking is what we do to one another as women: mothers, daughters, friends, sisters. And all out of a misguided sense of competition: for men, jobs, family favor, personal sense of achievement, social status.
