I have a beef with some of you guys.
The way you pick on the Olive Garden. I happen to like the Olive Garden’s soup and salad deal. My local Olive Garden is nice and clean and has OK food. Olive Garden is a franchise and their branches are probably just nice, ordinary people trying to make a living, and don’t need people putting them down. So please talk nice about Olive Garden. (If they are Republicans/conservatives, etc., please let me know.)

I used to have a beef about the way people put down Neanderthals, but happily, it seems that people here on DU are more aware of that now and rarely put down the Neanderthals. :-)

1. I've not been much to the Olive Garden but
the few times I have been, I've enjoyed my meal. I just make fun of it to be silly.
There are a lot of food snobs here that refuse to admit that you can get an enjoyable meal at any chain restaurant. For a middle class family that doesn't have a lot of time/money to spend on fine dining, I don't think there is anything wrong with going out for a meal at a chain restaurant.

3. What the hell kind of cell phone is that guy using?
Shit, it makes him look like some kind of neanderthal or something.

4. That cell phone is actually pretty easy to use.
So easy a caveman could use it.

5. Okay, okay. I'm guilty. So what if the narwhal alfredo has 13,000,000 grams of saturated fat.
FUCK YEAH!!!!!!1!

Everything ELSE on the menu does too! Then again, that's part of the attraction.

And as for the Neanderthals, "We'll take the chincs and the niggers, but NOT the Irish" <- Blazing Saddles reference - pardon the use of pejorative terms I don't use personally but that's the quote from the movie and the FUNNY thing about it is that the guy saying it IS IRISH! Mel Brooks even said in an interview that they couldn't even get away with proposing a movie like that now. They got away with poking fun at racists in a manner that will probably never be possible again in this country. Well, I still have a good time poking fun at racists. If you think you're better than a Neanderthal, stop dragging your damn knuckles teabaggers! (Note: I've seen plenty of evidence to suggest that Neanderthals never really were knuckle-draggers).

11. While agnostic and leaning HEAVILY towards atheism... I've actually kind always admired that guy...

... who must lose a FORTUNE actually practicing what he preaches (seems
like not working on the Sabbath).

Don't know his politics or his other beliefs/practices (I'm almost positive
I would disagree/disdain/condemn some, if not most or all of them), but
keeping his restaurants closed on Sunday shows a very, VERY high degree
of personal integrity.

Definitely not your typical hypocritical.

13. The food might be just okay
but it can't stack up to really, really good Italian food. It's pretty much crap in comparison.

14. I had a bad experience with their service and their food, so I don't go there.
If you enjoy it, then mangia, mangia!

15. I like Olive Garden.
There are better Italian restaurants, sure, but it's pretty good for a chain. I get the soup to start, rather than the salad, and I always get the zuppa toscana, which is terrific.

17. I've actually only eaten there once, LONG ago...
.
.
.
...and I remember the salad being PRETTY good, the soup being
fucking AWESOME, the pasta Alfredo being meh -- although the
grilled chicken in it was very very tasty.
.
.
.
Yeah, much better Italian places in town -- but not particularly
awful (and that soup crushed the "authentic" places' soups).

16. Our local OG habitually overcooks their food.
Pretty much the only thing they don't screw up is the bread and salad.
