Video: Cat vs. iPhone app 'Cat Toy'

Do you let your pet use your smartphone?

We have absolutely no idea why anyone would ever use the Cat Toy app for the iPhone. As the video embedded above illustrates (of a cat named Meesha), the app basically invites your feline friend to scratch up your expensive iPhone.

Gizmodo has more: “Hardware lovers beware: you’re about to witness savage iPod abuse. As if this brutality weren’t enough, Meesha’s owner confirms that destruction’s not limited to the Cat Toy app’s advances: ‘Whenever Meesha sees the iPod in someones hands, he wants to play with it.’ Play? Is that what you call it? I guess, in the way a cheetah plays with a gazelle.”

2. I got a new "Android" phone recently
The Samsung Fascinate. Okay, it's fascinated my cats, when I downloaded this app called "Cat Sounds". You click on a kitty face and the phone breaks out in these mews, purrs, growls, screeches, etc. First time I used it, my reformed formal-feral tomcat went nuts. He started stalking around the room looking for these gangster cats, went into my closet, and now I have an armload of silk and rayon to take to the dry-cleaners.

He was not pleased with that app. And I have now un-installed it.

I am his servant, I could do no less.

3. They have that app for iPhone, as well.
I downloaded after reading your post, curious to see what effect
it would have on my kitties. It. Had no effect whatsover on the girl cat who was happily napping, but the boy became agitated. I took the same measures you took. It ought to come with a warning: may derange your kitty.

5. I tried it and the cats were only mildly intrigued
they sat there following the butterfly around the screen but they didn't come close to as nuts as the cat on the video. Both cats put their noses on the screen, I guess to try and eat the bug. When they realized they couldn't that's when they both lost interest.
