1. It's better than those cutesy "how to cook a turkey" things papers run

Every paper in the United States, including the three I printed Wednesday night, runs a "how to cook a turkey" article with recipes from either third or fourth graders. Most of them recommend cooking the turkey at ten degrees for an hour. (They never gave me that assignment, which was fortunate for the paper because in the third grade I already knew how to cook a turkey.)

This year's submissions mostly included the direction "go to Walmart and get a turkey." A couple kids recommended getting a live one and cutting the head off--one kid said you didn't have to stuff them if you started with a live one because they don't come empty. One kid said to go to a car place because they're free there.

2. I never read those things

I outgrew "funny things kids say" when Art Linkletter was doing it.

Watching guys blow things up is much more fun.

I'm cooking our turkey tomorrow. Yesterday we went to the in laws for Turkey Day. Now I get to cook one the way I like it with the sides I want. And we get to keep the leftovers!
