I, for one, miss newyawker99.

She was an experienced mod before I ever had the pleasure to serve as one. She kept track of members post counts and birthdays, and in the Mod Forum she always was a kind spirit encouraging us newbies, helping us get along.

She was a lead moderator of DU I always thought was one of the best. While having to moderate DU, she never forgot how to be a regular member, and what it means to be a part of this community, and she played a great role in it, not just hidden away in the mod forum.

11. I came here March 1st to announce the return of Milestones...

but I couldn't get here due to the DNS issue and then there was much going on after I could get back.

I asked Skinner about doing this months ago and he said it was okay. What I don't know is how she got it started. Did people PM her when they crossed a milestone or had a birthday? I thought it would be fun to not only acknowledge the posts but also the longevity. Some people have been here for years and don't have many milestones but they are still an important part of the group.

Are we ready for its return? :)

and I gave her my birthdate. She kept track of everything and did the rest.

But I never did figure out how she managed to keep track of milestones. She did that all by herself. All I know is that you had to have your profile not hidden to be included... :shrug:

27. She welcomed me to DU on my very first post, January 2003.

She also became my first friend on DU, is still on my buddy list. ;(

Roni kept track of milestones and birthdays, and was a mod who taught me a lot when I served my first mod term in 2007. I was always glad to run into her on the board, with her humor, and she always had a kind word for me, for anyone, actually. She was a one-person DU welcoming committee. I copied her sig line here, from the last post I have of hers. She really meant it:
