1. I had that on vinyl.
I don't have it on CD, so haven't heard it in abut 20 years?

I liked it, but I don't think I thought it was really great.

2. some great blues
one song that got on my last nerve, His Holy Modal Majesty, made me want to stick ice picks in my ears.

and i could never figure out how You Don't Love Me made the music roll. seriously and literally, roll. it sounded like the speaker was rolling, causing the sound to roll....

and Harvey's Tune, was just, beautiful.

but the blues songs make it worth it.

4. I bought the CD recently and was very disappointed.
My college roommate had the LP and I could never seem to get into it however hard I tried. I figured it was my fault. It wasn't.

5. For me, it was a matter of already having listened to so much classic blues...
...when I listen to Buddy Guy, for example, I could probably follow that up with listening to some Stevie Ray or Clapton, but it's got to be a skilled performer at the top of their game or I'll just turn it off.

I also tried to get into the album because I thought I was "supposed to," that it was somehow a classic that I'd failed to grasp. I tried listening to it yesterday, right before posting, and never made it through the first track...it just seemed to plod along without grabbing me.

6. Plodding - you nailed it.
That's just what happened to me. The thing is, Music Choice has a "Blues" audio channel that comes over the cable system, and I can listen to this for hours. Something about the lack of variety or lack of a standout talent in the Super Session just left me cold.
