I stopped by the vets office and an emergency had just been brought in - a small old dog that had fallen off a second floor balcony. I left and returned later for what I needed. I asked about the dog from earlier in the day and learned that it had to have a leg amputated.
I can still see that poor dog and hear it crying in agony.
Almost the same thing happened to my cousin; she was visiting her daughter and her little dog fell off the loft hallway on the second floor, between the spindles of the railing. Her dog died. :(
